Stickers & Characters

Stickers inspired by street art, character design and character illustration styles. In the workshops, stickers are made by using different techniques. The sticker and the sticker sheet are viewed from the perspective of street art and illustration art, as one form of artistic expression. Stickers are fun and popular collectibles. Stickers are made, collected and pasted for their aesthetics, expression and their functionality.

At this workshop we will make character-focused illustrations and sticker designs, and during the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to make a number of unique stickers by hand, try out different tools and techniques, and create their own sticker sheet or other visual collection of stickers. At the end of the workshop, participants will get their own sticker sheet or sticker collection printed. The end result can be e.g. a cartoon-like sticker sheet with several characters composed as separate stickers on it, or collection of individual stickers with a unifying idea.

At the workshop we will cover the following topics: Handmade stickers and manufactured stickers, street art stickers, illustration styles, character design, composition, different techniques and tools for illustration art and sticker making. During the workshops the stickers are individually and uniquely made by hand, but we will also cover the process of digitizing the handmade sticker art. We will cover how to turn your own handmade sticker art into a digital, print-ready file, allowing everyone to produce and print more stickers for themselves after the workshop. Tarra- ja hahmotyöpaja

Työpajoissa tehdään tarroja erilaisilla tekniikoilla ja inspiroidutaan katutaiteesta ja erilaisista hahmoista. Tarraa ja tarra-arkkia tarkastellaan katutaiteen ja kuvitustaiteen näkökulmasta, yhtenä taiteellisen ilmaisun muotona. Tarroja tehdään, keräillään ja liimaillaan mm. niiden estetiikan, viestin ja toiminnallisuuden takia. Pajassa suunnitellaan hahmopainotteisia tarrakuvituksia ja pajojen aikana osallistujat pääsevät tekemään useita uniikkeja tarroja käsin, kokeilemaan erilaisia välineitä ja tekniikoita, ja luomaan oman tarra-arkin tai muun visuaalisen kokoelman tarroja. Tarra-arkki tai tarrakokoelma tulostetaan. Lopputulos voi olla esimerkiksi sarjakuvamainen tarra-arkki, jossa on sommiteltuna useita hahmoja erillisinä tarroina, tai yksittäisiä tarroja, joissa on joku yhdistävä idea. Pajassa käsitellään seuraavia aiheita: Käsintehdyt tarrat ja teollisesti valmistetut tarrat, katutaidevaikutteiset tarrat, kuvitustyylit, hahmosuunnittelu, sommittelu, erilaisten tekniikoiden ja välineiden käyttö. Työpajoissa tehdään tarroja käsin, mutta tutustutaan myös tarrojen digitalisoimisen keinoihin ja tuotetaan jokaisen osallistujan materiaaleista tarra-arkit ja tiedostot, joiden avulla osallistujat voivat pajan jälkeen tulostuttaa lisää tarroja itselleen.
